SSC Stenographer exam pattern – CBT, Skill test

SSC Stenographer exam is conducted to hire candidates for the Group C and Group D posts in the central government. The recruitment process takes a lot of time generally more than one year. Exam pattern is the first and the most important thing to check while starting your exam preparation.

SSC Stenographer exam pattern

It is a good idea to prepare in the right direction with the help of the latest exam pattern. It will help to make things easier for you and complete your preparation before the exam. The official exam pattern was issued in October 2020 when Staff Selection Commission released the official notification for the SSC Stenographer exam. SSC stenographer selection process

The SSC Stenographer selection process will consist of Computer Based Test and a skill test. Skill Test will be conducted after the Computer Based test for those candidates who got the minimum qualifying marks in the CBT exam.

  • CBT (Computer-based test)
  • Skill Test
  • Document verification (DV)

1-Computer based test:

Candidates will be further short-listed in the Computer Based test according to their marks in the CBT. From 2022 onwards NRA CET exam will replace the Computer Based Test for the SSC Stenographer exam. National Recruitment Agency will conduct the NRA CET (Common Eligibility Test) next year. Important instructions for the SSC Stenographer CBT exam:

  • CBT exam will have to be completed within 2 hours time duration. Scribe candidates get an extra 40 minutes to complete the test.
  • There will be three sections in the Computer Based Test.
  • There will be no sectional cutoff in the CBT exam but there will be a minimum cut-off mark for the complete CBT test as given below.
  • Candidates will have to solve 200 questions which we carry 200 marks.
  • Negative marking will also be there and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Minimum qualifying marks in CBT:

There is a minimum cut-off marks criteria in the SSC stenographer CBT exam and candidates will have to secure minimum marks as per the below-given table. Failing to secure minimum qualifying marks in the CBT exam will disqualify the candidature for the further recruitment process.

2-Skill test:

After clearing this CBT exam candidates will be called for the skill test at any nearest location. As you are all candidates already know While submitting the online application form you will have to choose the medium of the skill test as Hindi or English. The skill test is a qualifying test only and candidates will be given a dictation of 10 minutes. Candidates will have to complete this dictation on a paper within the below given time duration.

  • The Skill Test is just a qualifying test and no extra marks will be given for this test.
  • Candidates can choose any nearest Centre to appear for the skill test.
  • Important dates related to the skill test will be shared by the staff selection commission on the official website.

3-Document verification:

After qualifying in the CBT and skill test Staff Selection Commission will release a list of the shortlisted candidates for the stenographer job. All those candidates will be called for document verification. In the document verification process Commission will check all important documents such as

  • educational documents
  • Identity proofs such as voter id
  • Certificates to verify reservation-related criteria
  • Disability certificates
  • Experience certificates
  • training certificates, etc by calling candidates at any nearest center.

Candidates must carry both the original copies and the photocopies of all documents. Candidates will have to select the preference of the posts/ departments also while documents verification. Candidates must carry their Aadhar card/ e Aadhar Card or any other identity proof. Failing in the document verification will disqualify candidates for the post.

The final selection of the candidates will be done based on the qualifying marks in the CBT and the preference of their posts.
