What is Umang App?

Umang stands for “Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance” which is a mobile application developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to provide all central and state government services, transactions, and documents through a single platform.

Umang app is available for both android and ios platforms and currently provides support for 13 Indian languages. As of now, the Umang app is providing 21559 services from 259 departments.

Its a part of the Digital India initiative scheme of the government of India to provide a solid technical foundation and helps Indian citizens by providing all services in an easily accessible manner. Now all people can access important state and central government services in online mode through the Umang App.

Three years after the initial launch of the Umang app, An international version has been launched by IT Minister Shri Ravishankar Prasad for the Indian NRI in different countries such as the US, UK, Canada, UAE, Australia, Netherland, New Zealand, Singapore.

Purpose of making UMANG App

After the implementation of the digitization scheme in almost all the departments, all the facilities become available online. A major problem faced by the common citizens was that they had to use different online portals or mobile applications to access different services. To overcome this problem of the citizens, the government has created the Umang app.

The main purpose of making the UMANG App is to make all government services whether it is of central government or state government, through a single platform. You can avail various services of different departments on UMANG App. Now all you need is one app for this.

Benefits of Umang App

UMANG App provides essential facilities to the common citizens while fulfilling the Digital India initiative of the Government of India.
Everyone can take advantage of different services sitting at home through their mobile phones.
Important services such as online registration for COVID-19 vaccine, ration card status check, PF withdrawal, etc. can be availed through the UMANG app.
With all the work being done online through the UMANG App, the time taken for availing of the services has been greatly reduced.
You can also apply for different government schemes through UMANG App.
An online bill payment facility is also available on this app.

How to download the Umang App?

You can download the Umang App with the help of the below-mentioned steps.

Step 1. Open the official website

First of all, Visit the official website by clicking the umang.gov.in link. You will see all information and features about the app on the Umang website portal homepage.

Step 2. Click the app download link

Now on the official website, you will see the Android and IOS app link. You can click on any link as per your mobile operating system. If you have an android mobile phone then click the Google Play link and if you have an iPhone then click the App Store link.

Alternatively, you can directly search the Umang app on the Google play store or App Store.

Step 3. Install the app

After clicking the link you will be redirected to the Umang App download page on Google Play or App Store. Now click the Install button to download the app on your Mobile phone. After downloading has been finished you can use the app.

Step 4. Open the app

After downloading the app on your Mobile phone open the app. You can see a new app link in your mobile dashboard. After opening the mobile app you will see a language selection screen (as shown below).

On this screen, you can select your preferred language from the available 13 languages. After that select the “I agree” check box and click the Next button.

After opening the app you will see a welcome screen (as shown below).

Step 5. Register yourself

If you want to use any service then you will have to register yourself first. On the app home screen do click on the Register link. You will see a new registration window on the next page (as shown below).

In this registration form enter your mobile number, select the Terms and conditions check box, and click the Register button.

You will receive an OTP on your mobile number. Now fill in this OTP on the next screen and click the Verify button.

Note: If you have provided the SMS permission to the app then it will automatically verify your number by detecting the OTP.

After the OTP verification, you have completed the registration part. You can also create an MPIN for login purposes.

After successful registration, you can now log in to the app. Click the login link, You will see a login window (as shown below)

On this login screen, you can log in in two ways.

Through MPIN
Through OTP

Now enter your mobile number which you have used for the registration, enter your MPIN and click the Login button.

If you forgot your MPIN or you have not created any MPIN then you can click the Login with OTP link.

A new window will appear on the screen where you will have to provide your mobile number and OTP.

You can use any method to log in.

Step 7. Start using all services

After the successful login, you will see different services from the different departments. You can start using important services such as Cowin vaccine registration.

You will see your recently used service on top of your dashboard.

My documents (from Digilocker):

After that, you will see the Digilocker app link where you can save your important documents such as your ID proof, address proof, certificates, E EPIC, etc. It’s a secure platform so you can use it without worrying about security.

Pay bills (BBPS):

After that, you will see some links related to the Bharat bill pay (BBPS).

Live chat – you can chat with a support person and ask for any help realted to the app.
Send feedback – You can share your suggestions through this option.
Phone support – You can also get phone support through this option.
Email support – You can get help through email from this option.
FAQ – You can read important frequently asked questions which can solve 95% of queries.

If you click on the Send Feedback link then you will be redirected to a new window (as shown below).

On this page, you can share your feedback in three ways.

Send feedback about the Umang app – You can click this option to share your feedback about the app.
Send feedback about department services – You can share your feedback regarding department services you have applied through this option.
Other – If there is any other kind of feedback you want to share then you can use this option.

Umang App EPF withdrawal process:

Please check below the PF withdrawal process.

1- Open the Umang app on your smartphone.

2- There is a search option on top of the app. Search EPFO there.

3- You will see a list of EPFO-related services available through the Umang App. Now click the Employee Centric Services link. A new window will appear on the screen.

4- Now click the Raise Claim option.

5- You will see a new pop-up. Now enter your UAN number, OTP, and click the Submit button.

6- Now you will have to select the withdrawal type. After that submit your request.

7- You have completed all steps. Please note down your reference number which you may use to track the PF withdrawal status.
