What is UNC MyChart?
UNC Health (formerly UNC Healthcare) and EPIC Inc have partnered to provide a healthcare product to patients. UNC Health got the MyChart license to offer all MyChart services to patients who are taking treatment from UNC Health.
Now patients’ electronic health records (EHR) will be stored in the MyChart database and patients can access this data anytime anywhere through an online website and mobile app.
Patients will also get the opportunity to access MyChart services after signing up on the official website.
Patients can book appointments, pay their medical bills, get proxy access for a family member’s MyChart account, send a secure message to the provider, etc.
My UNC Chart login

2-Login to the My Unc Chart mobile app:
Download the Mychart mobile app to access some exclusive services and features. Mobile app links are available on the official website. Please check the below steps to download the app.

- Click the app link to open the app page.
- Click the Install button to download the app on your smartphone.

How to log in to the mobile app?
- Open the mobile app on your smartphone.
- You will see the login form in the app.
- Enter your Mychart username and password and tap the Sign In button to access your account.
3-Search the login and sign-up links on Epic’s Mychart website:
Patients can find the login and sign-up links by searching on the MyChart product website. Visit the MyChart portal at https://www.mychart.com/ and click the Access MyChart button.
A search form is available on the next page. Type UNC in the search box. You will see the log-in and Sign-up link after the search (as shown below).
Click the Log-In link to open the UNC My Chart login page. On the login page, enter your username and password and log in to your MyChart account.
My UNC Chart account recovery process
Username and Password can be easily recovered. It’s a good facility in case someone forgets the login credentials. Please check the below steps to recover the username and password.
Username recovery process:
- Visit the UNC Mychart page.
- Click the Forgot Username link located on the login form.
- A username recovery form will appear on the screen.
- Enter first name, last name, and date of birth in this form and click the Submit button.
- You will receive your username through an email on the registered email ID.
Password recovery process:
- Visit the official website and click the Forgot password link.
- A password reset page will appear on the next screen.
- Enter your username and date of birth which is associated with your the My UNC Chart portal.
- Click the Next button and answer the security question.
- On the next page, you can create a new password for your account.
My UNC Chart registration process
All patients must register an account on the Mychart portal to use the bill payment, appointment scheduling, sending a message to the Doctor, etc services.
There are two ways to sign up for a new Mychart account.
- Sign up through an activation code.
- Sign up without an activation code.
1-Sign-up through an activation code:
Whenever a patient visits any hospital, UNC Health shares an activation code through the after-visit summary. If a patient receives the activation code then the sign-up process is very easy and can be completed within minutes.
- Visit the official website.
- Click the Use your activation code link located below the login form.
- On the sign-up form, enter the My UNC Chart activation code and date of birth.
- Click the Next button and create a new Username and Password for your account.
- Set up a security question that will help to recover the password.
Your new account is ready to use and you can log in right away.
2-Online Sign-up without an activation code:
No activation code? Don’t worry. Patients can still sign up. It just takes a long time for the verification process.
Visit the official website and click the Get Activation Code link located on the login page. Fill out the registration form. Your demographic information will be verified through a third-party verification system.
After the verification, you can create a new username and password.
UNC MyChart Benefits

Contact your Doctor
Patients can use the secure message service to connect to the Doctor’s office anytime through the Mychart website or mobile app.
You may ask questions related to your health or treatment and you will soon get a revert through an encrypted connection.
Schedule an appointment
Appointment scheduling is a great facility where patients can book telephonic or video appointments with their providers. It saves time and is a good option in case of any minor health issue.
Access Lab Test Results
Patients can log in and view their lab test results anytime. Lab results are uploaded by the concerned lab after 24 hours. Some tests may take a longer time.
All previous test results are also available for patients after logging into their accounts.
Request Prescription Refills
Patients can also request to refill their prescriptions through the Mychart portal.
Pay Bills Online
An online bill payment facility is a convenient way to pay medical charges by using a credit or debit card. Bill payment facility is available through the Mychart dashboard page.
Get proxy access
A proxy access facility allows to access other Mychart accounts. If you want to access the health records of a family member then you can request proxy access.

A Patient can check all Electronic Health records through the website and mobile app. Medication history, health history, current treatment details, lab test results, etc can be easily checked anytime by logging into the Mychart account.
My UNC Chart Bill Payment Guide
Patients can easily pay their treatment charges online by using two methods.
- By logging into to MyChart account
- By using the guest payment facility
1-By logging into to MyChart account:
Patients can use their username and password to access their MyChart account dashboard page. On the dashboard page click the bill payment option and pay the required medical bill by using a credit card or debit card.
2-By using the guest payment facility:
Guest payment facility is available for everyone and anyone who has the billing details can pay the required bill without signing in to any account.
Visit the official website and click the Pay as Guest link located below the login form. An online form for account identification will appear on the screen (as shown below).
Enter the Guarantor account number and last name and complete the captcha verification. After that click the Look-up button to verify the account.
After the account look-up process, click the Next button to proceed with the bill payment. Use your debit or credit card to pay the required bill.
How to schedule an appointment online?
Now patients can book their appointments online. A link is available on the official MyChart website. The online appointment scheduling facility is available only for select providers.
Please check the below steps to book an appointment.
Step 1: Visit the MY UNC Chart website and click the Schedule an Appointment Online link located below the login form or visit the appointment booking web page directly at https://myuncchart.org/MyChart//OpenScheduling.
You will see an appointment booking page (as shown below).
Step 2: Select a specialty from the given options. You will get some appointment-related options such as
- New Patient In-Person Appointment
- New Patient Video Appointment
- New Patient Telephone Appointment
Step 3: Click on any appointment type you want to schedule as per your requirement.
Step 4: On the next screen, select the nearest location and click the Continue button. You will get a list of providers for the selected specialty on the next screen including the available time slot of the providers.
Step 5: Select the time slot that works well for you. On the next screen, you will get the option to edit the time slot and location if you want.
If you are fine then type the health issue you are facing in the given space. Finally, you can book your appointment slot through two options.
- Log In and Schedule
Select this option and log in to your UNC Mychart account. - Schedule as a Guest
Select this option if you don’t have a MyChart account. You will be redirected to a new patient sign-up page. Fill out this form and schedule your appointment.
Select any one option and finish the appointment booking process.
Note: For a video visit, Patients must have a MyChart account. Patients must sign in to their MyChart account and complete the eCheck-in process 15 minutes before the appointment time.

Why some test results are not available on My UNC Chart?
Test results are available within 1 to 7 business days in the Mychart portal. Not all test results will be available in the Myhart portal and some test results will be shared in person by the Doctor.
These results may require a conversation with your doctor to suggest further action plans related to your treatment.
How can I edit my profile details?
If you think there is any incorrect entry in your personal information then you can update your profile anytime.
Just log in to your account, visit the profile section from the top menu, and again visit the Personal Information section.
Use the edit button to make changes to your profile details and save all changes.
