Health Alliance Partner
HAP is a Michigan-based health plan provider that started its journey in 1960 by starting the Community Health Association (Now HAP). Initially a prepayment (monthly premium) medical plan was offered to Metropolitan Hospital patients and autoworkers. Community Health Association was later acquired by Blue Cross Blue Shield in 1972 and in 1986, HAP became a subsidiary of Henry Ford Health System.
By acquiring Midwest Health Plan and merging with HealthPlus of Michigan, HAP became the largest health insurer in Michigan.
As a non-profit health plan provider, HAP offers health coverage to individuals, companies, and organizations through its network of doctors, employers, and community groups. Currently, more than 1,100 employees are working in HAP and it is also getting the benefits of the partner hospital that provides medical care to its customers.
One of the important benefits of the HAP is that patients can use their Health Care Cost Estimator online tool to compare health plan costs from different doctors and hospitals.
HAP and Henry Ford Health System
Since HAP is a subsidiary of Henry Ford Health System, it uses its Integrated care network and helps its subscribers by providing the necessary care through hospitals in Michigan. If the patients are visiting the HFHS then they will get seamless care and coverage and they can also use the Henry Ford Mychart that allows patients to schedule appointments, access lab test results, view medical records, etc services.

What is the HAP provider portal?
HAP Provider Portal is a website that allows healthcare providers who are participating in the Health Alliance Plan (HAP) network to access information and tools related to their patients’ HAP insurance coverage. It’s likely that the website provides access to claims, eligibility, authorizations, referrals, and other information related to HAP patients.
It also provides the providers with the ability to perform online transactions and access educational materials. The website is designed to make it easy for providers to manage the administrative aspects of their patients’ HAP coverage, so they can focus on providing the best possible care.
