Mo Bidyut is an online web portal that is developed by the Odisha government to provide electricity-related services for all Discoms. Customers can apply for new electricity, check the online application status, pay the electricity bills, etc. Mo Bidyut portal is a part of the 5T initiative of the Odisha government that ensures that Odisha Discom customers from all four Odisha Discoms TPCODL, TPNODL, TPWODL, and TPSODL will get all important services through a single one-stop solution.

It is specifically developed to provide a new electricity connection in all Discoms for up to 5kw connection. Customers can submit an online application for a new connection and the new connection will be approved within 48 hours.

New connection application:
If a customer required a new domestic connection for up to 5kw then the customer can now apply for a new connection on the Mo Bidyut portal instead of applying on the Discom website.

Bill payment:
A Bill payment facility is also available to pay the monthly electricity bill through a secure gateway.

Complaint registration:
Customers can also lodge complaints online on the Mo Bidyut portal if there is any issue related to their electrical connection.

Application/Grievance Status:
If a customer has applied for a new connection or submitted a complaint then the customer can track the progress by checking the status online.

How to apply for a new electricity connection on Mo Bidyut Portal?

All customers will get their new connection within 48 hrs after submitting the electricity application if customers are satisfying the below conditions.

  1. There is no RoW (right of way) issue related to the transmission line to provide a new connection.
  2. The place where the new connection is required must be within 30 meters of the nearest connecting points of Utility.
  3. All submitted documents must be valid and authentic.
  4. There should not be any Arrear against the Applicant in any Utilities as in clause-17 of OERC Code – 2019.

For a new domestic connection, the charges will be as follows.

  • The processing fee will be Rs 50.
  • Service connection charges will be Rs 1500 for 0.5 kw to 2 kw connection and Rs 2500 for 2.5 kw to 5 kw.
  • The inspection fee will be Rs 30.
  • The security deposit will be different for different kw connections.
  • The meter Cost will be 1271 Rs.
  • GST will be extra.

Overall, you will have to pay a total of ₹6207.00 including GST for a new 2.5 kw domestic connection and ₹8335.00 including GST for a 5kw domestic connection.

How to submit a complaint on the Mo Bidyut portal?

Grievance redressal is also a part of the Mo Bidyut portal where customers can register their complaints and their complaints will be resolved by the respective Discom. Customers can also check their grievance status online. Please follow the below steps to register a complaint.

  • Click the Grievance Portal link on the homepage.
  • You will see an online form to submit your Grievance online.

Update 20-10-2020:

Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik on 19 October 2020, Monday launched a new online portal and mobile app Mo Bidyut for electricity consumers in the state to provide efficient, time-bound, and transparent online service to the people of the State.

The Chief Minister said in a video conference that the Mo Bidyut portal and mobile app will benefit more than 89 lakh electricity consumers of the State.

He further said that electricity services will now come under Mo Sarkar, and people now need not run to various offices for new connections, bill payment, or grievance redressal. All services are now available through a single platform.
