Mo Bidyut Portal

Mo Bidyut is an online web portal that is developed by the Odisha government to provide electricity-related services for all Discoms. Customers can apply for new electricity, check the online application status, pay the electricity bills, etc. Mo Bidyut portal is a part of the 5T initiative of the Odisha government that ensures that Odisha Discom customers from all four Odisha Discoms TPCODL, TPNODL, TPWODL, and TPSODL will get all important services through a single one-stop solution.

It is specifically developed to provide a new electricity connection in all Discoms for up to 5kw connection. Customers can submit an online application for a new connection and the new connection will be approved within 48 hours.

Customers can access the below services through the portal.

New connection application:
If a customer required a new domestic connection for up to 5kw then the customer can now apply for a new connection on the Mo Bidyut portal instead of applying on the Discom website.

Bill payment:
A Bill payment facility is also available to pay the monthly electricity bill through a secure gateway.

Complaint registration:
Customers can also lodge complaints online on the Mo Bidyut portal if there is any issue related to their electrical connection.

Application/Grievance Status:
If a customer has applied for a new connection or submitted a complaint then the customer can track the progress by checking the status online.

Overall Mo Bidyut portal has been developed to provide a single window for offering a new electricity connection and solving customers’ complaints in a minimum time to provide better customer service.

How to apply for a new electricity connection on Mo Bidyut Portal?

All customers will get their new connection within 48 hrs after submitting the electricity application if customers are satisfying the below conditions.

  1. There is no RoW (right of way) issue related to the transmission line to provide a new connection.
  2. The place where the new connection is required must be within 30 meters of the nearest connecting points of Utility.
  3. All submitted documents must be valid and authentic.
  4. There should not be any Arrear against the Applicant in any Utilities as in clause-17 of OERC Code – 2019.

If a customer is satisfying the above criteria then the online application can be submitted. The application process is straightforward.

Step 1: Visit the Mo Bidyut portal

Step 4: Fill out the online application form

After verifying your mobile number, you will be taken to an online application form. Fill in the required details in the form, such as your personal details, address, and load details.

After filling out the application form, you need to upload all the required documents. The documents that you need to upload may include proof of identity, proof of address, proof of ownership of the premises, and other relevant documents. Step 6: Fee Payment

  • Photo Identity Proof such as a Driving license, Voter ID card, Aadhar Card, Passport, Pan Card, Ration card with applicant’s Photo, etc.

New Connection charges:

There are different types of charges that every customer must pay as mentioned below.

  1. Processing Fees(Excl.GST @18%)
  2. Service Connection Charges(Excl.GST @18%)
  3. Inspection Fees
  4. Security Deposit
  5. Meter Cost (Excl. GST @18%)
  6. GST

For a new domestic connection, the charges will be as follows.

  • The processing fee will be Rs 50.
  • Service connection charges will be Rs 1500 for 0.5 kw to 2 kw connection and Rs 2500 for 2.5 kw to 5 kw.
  • The inspection fee will be Rs 30.
  • The security deposit will be different for different kw connections.
  • The meter Cost will be 1271 Rs.
  • GST will be extra.

Overall, you will have to pay a total of ₹6207.00 including GST for a new 2.5 kw domestic connection and ₹8335.00 including GST for a 5kw domestic connection.

How to log in and check Mo Bidyut Application Status?

Customers can keep track of their new connection application and Grievance status online on the Mo Bidyut portal. Whether you have submitted an online application or registered a complaint, an online facility to check your application status is available.

First, you will have to log in to the Mo Bidyut portal.

How to Pay the Electricity Bill?

Mo Bidyut portal is specifically developed to provide new electricity connections through an online mode for all four Odisha Discoms. A Bill payment facility has also been introduced to make it more helpful for the customers. Customers can check and pay their electricity bill online through multiple payment methods available on the website.

  • Click the Online Bill Payment link on the homepage.
  • You will be redirected to the Utility Bill Payment page.
  • Select your Discom from the Discom list.

  • Press the Proceed button to be redirected to the payment gateway page.
  • Use any one payment method from UPI, credit/debit card, net banking, etc, and pay your electricity bill.
  • After that successful payment, you will get your payment receipt.
  • You can save this receipt on your device or take a printout.

Important bill payment instructions:

  • Make sure that you are paying for your connection, please check your consumer ID.
  • Please ensure an interrupted supply of the internet connection.
  • Please ensure enough funds are in your account as per the payment method you are using.

How to submit a complaint on the Mo Bidyut portal?

Grievance redressal is also a part of the Mo Bidyut portal where customers can register their complaints and their complaints will be resolved by the respective Discom. Customers can also check their grievance status online. Please follow the below steps to register a complaint.

  • Open the Mo Bidyut website or mobile app.
  • Click the Grievance Portal link on the homepage.
  • You will see an online form to submit your Grievance online.
  • Select complaint type, complaint category, sub-category, etc, and provide your contact details.
  • Write a brief description of your complaint and attach any documents you have.
  • Finally, press the Submit Grievance button to submit your complaint.

There are two types of complaints that customers can register on the portal.

  1. Existing consumer complaint – If you are facing issues with your electricity connection such as meter reading issues, additional load requests, billing errors, etc then you can choose this option.
  2. General complaint – General complaints can be submitted by anyone such as low voltage supply, electricity theft, safety concern, transformer or pole related complaint, or no power supply, etc.

Update 20-10-2020:

Chief Minister of Odisha Naveen Patnaik on 19 October 2020, Monday launched a new online portal and mobile app Mo Bidyut for electricity consumers in the state to provide efficient, time-bound, and transparent online service to the people of the State.

The Chief Minister said in a video conference that the Mo Bidyut portal and mobile app will benefit more than 89 lakh electricity consumers of the State.

He further said that electricity services will now come under Mo Sarkar, and people now need not run to various offices for new connections, bill payment, or grievance redressal. All services are now available through a single platform.
